Week 4

Well...that was a bloody awful week for me wasn't it, I seemed to read everything wrong.
Correct winners from week 3:
2 (Paris and McEwan)

Correct results:
2
Vernon Paris UD over Courtney Burton
Craig McEwan UD over Danny Perez

Incorrect:5
Martin Power UD Stuart Hall (Power is 3/1 with Skybet to win and 8/1 to win on points with SportingBet)-Actual result Hall TKO 10
Nigel Wright UD Dean Harrison-Actual result Harrison UD
Tony Jeffries UD Michael Banbula-Actual result Draw
Jon Lewis Dickinson KO3 against Tyrone Wright-Actual result Wright TKO 3
Viacheslav Uzelkov KO9 against Beibut Shumenov-Actual result Shumenov UD

Though it needs to be said Fredie Roach is quoted as saying he though his man Craig McEwan LOST, Shumenov looked better than he has up to this point in his career an Dickinson was stopped due to facial damage.

So now time to try and save face after an embarrassing weekend:
Friday:
Don George to stop Francisco Sierra inside 3 (in what's effectively a shoot out)
Ashley Theophane to out point Delvin Rodriguez (in what will be a very close and hard fought fight)

Saturday:
Germany-
Khoren Gevor to beat Dimitri Sartison (WBA Super Middleweight title)-Gevor is 20/19 (with Bwin)
Sebastian Zbik to out point Jorge Heiland (WBA Interim Middleweight title)-Zbik is 4/5 (Sportingbet) to win on points

USA-
George Groves* to stop Alfredo Contreras
Roberto Guerrero to out point Joel Casamayor (Casa to really start looking his age)
Jorge Linares to outpoint Rocky Juarez (hopefully Linares will fulfil the promise he showed early on)
Sakio Bika to TKO Jean Paul Mendy around 8
Dmitry Pirog to stop Daniel Jacobs late (WBO Middleweight title fight)-Pirog 13/10 to win (boylesports) and 3 to win by KO/TKO
Juan Manuel Marquez to stop Juan Diaz in the middle rounds (WBO/WBA super Lightweight titles)-JMM is 6/17 to win (Bwin) and 6/4 to win by KO/TKO (BetFed)

Week 3

If I had a week 1 I had a rather less spectacular week 2 only getting 9 winners from 11 fights, though I got several spot on:
Correct Winners-
9 (Quigg, Porter, Ali, Murray, Guerrero, Lebedev, Montiel, Bradley and Angulo)
Correct result-4
Martin Murray Points win against Peter Mitrevski Jr
Fernando Guerrero points win against Ishe Smith
Fernando Montiel stopped Rafael Concepcion in the the 3rd (I said inside 5)
Timothy Bradley outpointed Luis Abregu

Nearly Correct result-2
Quigg stopped Reid in the 9th (I said inside 8)
Angulo stopped Alcine in the 1st (although correct I'm not giving myself it due to “inside 9” being the prediction)

Very wrong-
Monte Barrett v David Tua-Barrett schooled the New Zealander

This week doesn't really have many fights but here we go:
Friday-
Martin Power UD Stuart Hall (Power is 3/1 with Skybet to win and 8/1 to win on points with SportingBet)
Nigel Wright UD Dean Harrison
Tony Jeffries* UD Michael Banbula
Jon Lewis Dickinson* KO3 against Tyrone Wright
Viacheslav Uzelkov KO9 against Beibut Shumenov
Craig McEwan* UD Danny Perez (Note:-I think Perez will be robbed)
Vernon Paris* UD Courtney Burton

Note-
Odds correct at time of writing.

Week 2 predictions

So having started this last week lets have a look at week two and how accurate I was over the first week:
Correct winner-
All 7 (Daws, Molina, Jones, Donaire, Lopez, Alvarez and Negron)
Correct results-
0 (Though Molina and Lopez both stopped opponents as predicted)

This weeks predictions:
16/07

Scott Quigg* to beat Gavin Reid inside 8 rounds
Martin Murray* to beat Peter Mitrevski Jr on points (Commonwealth Middleweight title)
Fernando Guerrero* to out point Ishe Smith
Shawn Porter* to stop Ray Robinson
Sadam Ali* to out point Julias Edmonds

17/07
Denis Lebedev to beat Alexander Alexeev on points (WBO Cruiserweight eliminator and a cracker)-Denis 8/11 to win with Sporting Bet, 29/10 with Bet365 for the points win
Fernando Montiel to stop Rafael Concepcion inside 5 (WBC Bantamweight title)
Timothy Bradley to out point Carlos Luis Abregu-2/9 for Bradley to win with Boylesports, 11/10 Bradley by decision again with Boylesports
Alfredo Angulo to stop Joachim Alcine in 9
David Tua to stop Monte Barrett inside 5-Tua 1/25 to win (don't touch it folks) Boylesports and Ladbrokes, 2/7 for Tua stoppage with Sporting Bet

Busy weekend with 11 fights selected and other rather big ones not even mentioned. It's nice to see so many youngsters fighting on Friday. Although it's not mentioned above maybe the most interesting match is unbeaten fireman Lanard Lane v Mike Dallas Jr in a battle of unbeaten prospects which boxing needs to see more of. Also although it may be called off Matty Askin v Lee Kellet is an interesting one for me personally.

As always odds accurate at time of writing.

Boxing Predicions Week 1

With over 400 articles on the sport I love already online I've decided to go away from the style of some of the other pieces and have this here blog solely for predictions. Current I write prospect pieces in a section called “Prospect Scotting” for both my own blog and www.Ringnews24.com, I also do an occasionally updated piece on random parts of the fight game on a separate personal blog as well as regular articles for helium.com. Though even when I did previews I rarely put my head on the line, or my money. So in this weekly blog I'm picking the fights that interest me and going to attempt to predict the results for the ones I like the look of. Often the fights mention are either of some note are are fighters featured in Prospect Scotting.

This weeks fights:
09/07
Lenny Daws to out point Steve Williams (British Light Welterweight title) Odds 13/8 (Daws decison)
Mike Jones* to stop Irving Garcia in 7 (WBO NABO welterweight title)
John Molina* to stop Henry Lundy* in 6 (WBO NABO lightweight title) Molina 5/2 To Win

10/07
Juan Manuel Lopez to stop Bernabe Concepcion in 8 (WBO featherweight title)
Nonito Donaire to win on points against Hernan Marquez (interim WBA World super flyweight title)
Carlos Negron* to stop Gustavo Enriquez in 5
Saul Alvarez to win on points against Luciano Leonel Cuello

*Indicates fighter has been or is going to be mentioned in this weeks "Prospect Scotting".

All odds are correct at time of publication and only where applicable. Should only be seen as a guide of what can be found on offer.
